National Equine ChipChecker Food chain statuses explained:

Included

Included means that meat from the equine can be consumed by people – this is also known as entering the human food chain.

Excluded food chain status:

‘Excluded’ means that meat from the animal is NOT able to be consumed by people.

Unknown food chain status:

The ‘Unknown’ status only occurs in a few instances, and means that the food chain status was not recorded properly when the passport was issued. Typically, an unknown status will be treated as ‘Excluded’ for safety reasons but this is not always the case.
