National Equine ChipChecker Food chain statuses explained:

Included:

"Included" means that meat from the equine can be consumed by people – this means that the equine can be slaughtered for the human food chain

Excluded:

"Excluded" means that meat from the equine is NOT able to be consumed by people and the equine cannot be slaughtered for the human food chain. Once an equine has been "Excluded" or "signed-out" this is irreversible

Unknown:

The "Unknown" status only occurs in a few instances, and means that the food chain status was not recorded properly when the passport was issued. Typically, an unknown status will be treated as "Excluded", but this is not always the case
