The Universal Equine Life Number is unique to an equine. The number is typically 15 digits long but can be longer for equines registered outside of the UK. For equines born in the UK the UELN starts with 826.

Where can I find this number?

The UELN (sometimes called just "Life Number") is typically found on the front or first pages of an equine's paper passport where the identification details are recorded.

If the UELN is 15 digits long but doesn't start with 826, it's likely the equine was originally registered outside of the UK i.e. if it starts with 372 the UELN will have been registered in Ireland.

If your equine's passport does not state a UELN but instead states a Passport ID number you can still add your equine to the Digital Stable using the Passport number instead of a UELN.
